Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your Arden Office 365 account by requiring two or more forms of verification. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised. At Arden, ensuring the safety of your data and maintaining secure access to school resources is a top priority. Follow these simple steps to set up MFA through the Microsoft My Profile portal.
Once your MFA is set up, you will be prompted to use your second method of authentication whenever you access your account from:
- A non-Arden device (e.g., personal laptop, mobile, or tablet).
- A network that is not recognized, such as an unknown Wi-Fi connection.
This ensures that even if your credentials are used outside of Arden’s secure environment, your account remains protected.
Step 1: Log in to the Microsoft My Profile Portal
- Open a web browser and go to the Microsoft My Profile portal: https://myprofile.microsoft.com or via the Schoolbox MyProfile link on the Technology page.
- Log in with your Arden Office 365 email address and password.
Step 2: Navigate to the Security Info Section
- Once logged in, click on "Security Info" from the left-hand menu.
- If prompted, select "Add Method" to begin setting up MFA.
Step 3: Choose Your MFA Method
You will need to setup two additional methods of authentication. We would recommend using:
- Microsoft Authenticator App (recommended for ease of use).
- Phone Number for text message or voice call verification.
Step 3A: Microsoft Authenticator App
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from your device’s app store (Google Play or Apple App Store).
- In the Security Info section, choose "Authenticator App" and click "Add".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to scan the QR code using the app.
- Approve the test notification on your mobile device.
Step 3B: Phone Number
- Choose "Phone" and click "Add".
- Enter your mobile number and select either Text me a code or Call me.
- Complete the verification process by entering the code or answering the call.
Step 4: Set a Default Sign-in Method
- After adding a method, set your preferred MFA option as the default.
- This ensures you'll use your chosen method every time you sign in.
Step 5: Test Your MFA Setup
- Log out of your account.
- Log back in to test the MFA process. You should receive a prompt for your chosen second factor (authenticator app notification, text message, or phone call).
Tips for Success
- Always have a backup method configured in case your primary method is unavailable.
- Keep your mobile device secure, as it is essential for completing MFA.
